Past Post Commander - Army

Age 99, died on 15 November 2020 in Oak Island, North Carolina. Carroll served the first time as Post 3150 Commander in 1957-58; he then repeated 21 years later, in 1976-77, thus gaining the longest interval between terms of Post 3150 Commander. During WWII, he joined the Army Air Corps, flying 58 combat missions in the European Theatre as a fighter pilot, flying mostly P47 Thunderbolts. He retired from the U.S. Army Reserves as Lieutenant Colonel. He then worked on Capitol Hill for several years for the U.S. Senate. Carroll and his wife Wyllo, an Auxiliary Member, moved 1979 to Oak Island, where they lived actively with community, family, and friends. He joined the Post in 1954 and was a Life member.
